When I look back my work, I have always been capturing objects in natural forms, not with an eccentric mind set. And by doing so, I have been able to work constantly with a stance “what is best for the client.”

Both client and designer are consumers. And I believe by providing the best effort to those consumers, leads to the alternation of “invisible consumer to visible consumer.”

I also believe that my job is to pursue and define how can I contribute to the society as an interior designer and what kind of design makes the world better.

My design’s common theme is “the atmosphere”.

Just like each person has his or her own identity, each space has its own atmosphere as well. And I believe the power which its atmosphere contain, reflect on people who visit, and provide “nostalgic feelings or even a new sense of comfort”.

1959 - Born in Nagoya, Aichi
1980-Graduated from Nagoya’s Nippon Designer Gakuin, Interior Design Department.
1990 - Established Torii Design Office. Produced mainly on restaurants around Nagoya. Recently broaden its field and worked such as on schools for wines, or ceremonial halls.
1993 -“The NASHOP Lighting Contest” Rookie Award
1997 -“The NASHOP Lighting Contest” Outstanding Performance Award
1999,2000 - JCD Design Encouragement Award.
2003 - SDA Outstanding Performance Award Second Place.
